Cohuna Neighbourhood House hosted its annual community barbecue on Friday evening. Around 50 people attended the event at Apex Park, feasting on a delicious meal provided by the Cohuna Lions Club. It was a chance for newcomers to town to meet old hands and find out what our district has to offer.

Representatives from various clubs and groups were in attendance to inform and answer questions about their groups.

Neighbourhood House co-ordinator, Tanya Black, said it is a great community engagement activity that allows community groups and organisations to showcase what they do and what services are available in the district. “Newcomers can be given a welcome to town and it helps them network and settle into the community,” she explained. “It’s also a good opportunity for people working in community groups to network with other groups. Good things come out of that.”

For further information on local groups and organisations, grab a copy of the Cohuna Neighbourhood House’s fortnightly newsletter, ‘Cohuna Happenings’, or phone Tanya on 5456 4666.
