Walking for Water

The boots are primed, the spirit is eager, and the body will be right!

Lloyd’s Walk for Water is edging closer. The original date was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but a change is in the air.

Training peaked at 70km over 4 days of the week until the delay, when I throttled back to 40km for the week.

Construction will soon commence on a traveling bar, I have decided to convert my large tandem trailer into the Lloyd’s Walk For Water Watering Hole. This will give the perfect backdrop to sit and interview people about their experiences of what Murray Darling Basin Authority water plan implementation has done to their communities, livelihoods, and environment.

Anita from BeefItUpAustralia has been a great help in promoting, networking and even arranging merchandise for the cause. From mugs, tea towels, shirts, and jumpers, they are all available at   beefitupaustralia.org

The Walk will cover both Southern NSW and Northern Victoria.

Victorian Irrigators are planning a relay walk from Shepparton to Koondrook, then meeting up with myself to walk across to Hume dam!

Many people have offered to spend a day walking in solidarity. If you are keen, a rough guide is a target of walking around 20km a day. After time spent training, I believe this is a realistic target with time for interviews, recovery and longevity over the 303km!

All this would not be possible without all those around me, from family and friends, even complete strangers. It has been an exciting and touching process even in these early stages.

Can not wait to see you out there. How good can it get!?
