Vinnies recognises its volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week and acknowledges the invaluable contribution their wonderful volunteers make in the delivery of services to their communities. National Volunteer Week will be held May 16-22, 2022.

National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, and allows our society to join with other volunteer organisations to say thank you, for without our volunteers’ tireless contributions the society would not exist. These tireless efforts do not go unnoticed.

This year marks 50 years of service for Phil Mertz. Phil volunteers with the Barham Conference.  We extend our thanks and appreciation to Phil for his valuable support.

We also recognise Therese Disher, who has given 20 years of service to our shop and conference combined. Phil and Therese still continue to volunteer, and their contribution is so appreciated. During Volunteer Week, we celebrate with Phil and Therese, and all other Vinnies volunteers and members who have given so much back to their community, in Barham.

Our local Vinnies shop and Conference in Barham has a very friendly, social environment and the work provides a special sense of satisfaction you get from helping others and learning new skills.  Various tasks include sorting donated goods, serving at the counter, clerical, basic computer, interviewing and listening to people in need.

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you and your community and is a great way to make new friends, build relationships and learn new skills.

Vinnies is calling for people in Barham to consider volunteering with them in the shop in Noorong Street, or the conference. Men and women of all ages and denominations are welcome and encouraged to join us. Vinnies would love some of the younger members of the community to volunteer. Any time you can give would be much appreciated.

If you are interested in volunteering, call down to the Vinnies shop. We would love to hear from you and have you join us in making a difference to the Barham community.
