A glorious day dawned on Saturday, March 7 awaiting our 100 target SUPER CASH SHOOT.
A superb two-ground course was set and ready to go together with 92 eager competitors waiting to get the days’ event off and running.
A lot of hard work and many hours spent putting into the layout of the courses was done by our local identities led by Affie and Russell and their cohorts.
Much praise was noted throughout the day as to the excellence of the set up. Thank you boys and extras for your hard work and efforts.
The list of sponsors was very impressive to say the least. Some of those businesses have even doubled up their sponsorship through out the year. A very appreciative thank you to all sponsors for your generosity. So remember if you support those that support us that would be ideal.
Thanks to : Triple D Freight, Top Shot Shells, Penglase Auto Panels, Swan Hill Freight Agents, Gary Wilson Electrical, Doug & Rhonda Frankling, Barham Foodworks, Grant Woods & Family, Cohuna Butchers, NJ Kitchens, Douthat’s Joinery, Daniel Spark, Wade Mathers, Bottcher Bros.
The 100 target event was Grades only together with categories of Vets and Ladies being shot as four rounds of 25 targets.
The day ran very smoothly and everything just fell into place. Office girls kept their fingers on the running of the day and canteen ladies were busy on their feet feeding the hoards with their yummy wares. Thank you to both areas of ladies.
After some excellent shooting by numerous competitors five shoot offs were required to determine results.
These were in High Gun, AA, B, C & Vets.
Results were 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each grade/category.

It seemed like deja vu in that young Xavier Russell took out HIGH GUN again this year shooting an excellent 94/100. An awesome effort Xavier.
Not taking anything away from Robert Hall, who also shot a 94 requiring the shoot off with Xavier. Great effort boys.
Results were as follows:
- AA - Robert Hall (94), Matthew Libbis (91), Anthony Panetta (91)
- A - Leo McIntrye (84), Steve Penglase (82), Jono Archard (81)
- B - Reece Arnett (69), Colin Thompson (69), Mick McGlone (67)
- C - Wayne Joseph (56), Luke McNair (54), Tim Daly (54)
- LADIES - Em Keirl (71), Vicki Norris (59), Vickie McCormick (48)
- VETS - Frank Dick (74), Trevor Smith (73), Hollywood Hoyland (73)
Whilst the shoot offs were being held, an extra event was also being held at the same time. This event, the “5 Stand”, consists of one randomly selected shooter drawn from each grade, together with one lucky drawn shooter from all = 5 shooters competing.
The results of this event were -
- 1st Nathan Johns (extra random)
- 2nd Deni Karanfilvoski (AA)
- 3rd Adrian Johns (B)
- 4th Joel Brooks (A)
- 5th Kelvin Newman (C)
This event was sponsored by one sole sponsor being Brett Makeham from KJ’s Outdoor & Marine and the Joinery Works. Brett put up an awesome Lure board to the value of $350 as 1st prize and young Nathan was over the moon about his win. Well done Nathan.
2nd - 5th placings got to choose from the table for their prize – everyone being a winner!
Even if you weren’t taking a prize home for the day, you were all still winners.
Everyone had a great day from the lovely sunny day, to the great company and doing something you all love.
Just a bit of house keeping. Bar-Rook will be running the 2020 North West Zone School Shoot at our grounds on Monday, March 16, commencing at 9am. If you have some spare time, please pop on out and lend a helping hand. Thank you.
