Barham Library, in conjunction with Swan Hill Regional Library, recently held the Summer Reading Club. There were some great incentives for children who were reading throughout the summer break with prizes such as a 32GB iPad, a mini Sphero kit, and Toyworld, EB Games and Showbiz Cinema gift vouchers in the major draw.
For every completed log page that the children handed into the library, they received a free meal voucher from either McDonald’s or Subway. A log page consisted of either 10 books read or 10 hours of reading. The more logs read, the more a chance of winning a major prize.
One mum said, “It was great during the school holidays. When the children started to get tired and grumpy, I would say, ‘hey, have you done your hour reading today?’ and off they would go to their rooms to read.”
The major draw was held at Swan Hill Library on Friday, February 5. All Barham participants received their meal vouchers and participation certificates and look forward to joining in the fun next time when Summer Reading Club is held.
