The Cohuna skate park in Apex Park will be closed for the next few months as work is undertaken to redevelop the area. Work will begin this week on the project which has been two years in the making.

“This has been a project that local young people have been asking about for literally years! We are so excited that it is now actually up to the part where cement is being mixed and poured. We have been looking at mock-up drawings and designs for the past 24 months and now is the time to see those drawings become reality,” said Matt Allan, Youth Health Promotion Worker at Northern District Community Health.

Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said, “The redeveloped skate park will incorporate the current facility, with additional ramps, railings and riding areas to cater for skateboarders, BMX riders and scooter users of all skill levels. Other features include new paths, open space, play areas and seating.

“This project is made possible thanks to a $250,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Local Sport Infrastructure Fund, which Council is grateful for.”

“Council thanks residents and skate park users for their understanding as these works occur and looks forward to the completion of the redevelopment by the end of April,” Mr O’Reilly said.
