Regional Leo of the Year

Leos from across the Lion’s Club’s 201V6 District put their public speaking skills to the test on Sunday when they competed in the regional level of the Leo of the Year at Cohuna.

Cohuna’s Chenoa Cutter, 15, repeated her strong performance of the speech she delivered at the local level in Cohuna, ‘Social standards and cyber bullying in the social media world, and how it can impact your mental health status’.

Benton Lucas from Cobram on the Murray and Aydan Stark-Beswick from Tungamah and District Leos also competed in the event.

In addition to public speaking, competitors were judged on involvement in their Leos club and local community, what they believe Leos has done for them, and their goals. They were required to submit a resume and essay to the judges, Norm Walkington, Anne Shanahan and Jeanette Cowan.

Chenoa will compete at the state final in Altona on March 28, and her fellow Cohuna Leos will be there to support her.

Cohuna Leos are holding a social night at the scout hall this Friday, March 19 between 5pm and 8pm. Youths aged 12 and over are welcome to partake in kayaking, board games and dinner, and discover what the Leos do around town.
