- On the morning of Wednesday, February 28, a couple in their 70s have lit and maintained a campfire at Burkes Bridge in Gunbower National Park to burn rubbish while a Total Fire Ban was in place for the district.
Patrolling Forest Fire Management officers have located the fire and extinguished the same. Police were called and both were interviewed and released pending summons. The offenders admitted knowing it was a day of total fire ban but lit only a ‘small fire’ to burn rubbish. A brief or evidence is being prepared. - Unknown offenders have attended a farming property close to the intersection of Frantz and Cohuna Koondrook roads. A chain has been cut from a fence and a vehicle removed from the property. The vehicle is a 2002 model Ford Courier with a tray back. The door lock barrel and side window were smashed. Offender/s tried to gain entry to second vehicle but failed. Police have forensically searched vehicle and area for further evidence. We would also like locals to come forward with any further information.
