On this day – July 14, 1936 (88 years ago), the Kyabram Free Press (page 4) reported that Cohuna’s Co-operative Society store was targeted by thieves who attempted to blast open the safe door. The thieves piled bags of flour against the door to deaden the noise of the explosion. The safe door jambed and all the thieves left with was a small amount of money from the tills.
