New Deputy Mayor at MRC

Murray River Council will continue under the leadership of Mayor Cr Chris Bilkey and a new Deputy Mayor in Cr Nikki Cohen, following the Deputy elections at its Tuesday council meeting.

Cr Cohen nominated for the role of Deputy Mayor in accordance with Council policy that Deputies are to be elected on a 12-month basis.

Cr Cohen was elected unopposed, replacing Cr Alan Mathers who held the role for the previous 12-months.

Current councillors will continue to hold their civic offices until the rescheduled local government elections are held in September 2021.

Mayor Chris Bilkey will continue to hold office until the new election date.
