Murray River Council has announced the appointment of Terry Dodds to Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Dodds is currently Chief Executive Officer of Tenterfield Shire.
Following a very competitive recruitment process involving rigorous assessments and interviews, Council has expressed great satisfaction in their appointment of its new CEO to lead the organisation into 2021 and the next five (5) years.
Eighty-five expressions of interest were received resulting in 24 high quality applications being submitted.
Mr Dodds has been the CEO at Tenterfield for the past three years and he is a former CEO of Isaac Regional Council in Queensland and has past Director Infrastructure roles at Wagga Wagga, Ryde and Bega Valley Councils.
The Councillors noted Terry has a very strong community focus and a strong regional focus, and has been working with neighbour councils across the border in Queensland. That experience will be highly beneficial to Murray River Council in our cross border relations.
Mr Dodds had this message for staff and community:
“I am honoured that the Murray River Council has provided Fiona and me with the opportunity to become part of your community and to do what I love best – helping communities to grow and prosper. I feel incredibly privileged to be able to be part of the exciting future of this stunning region. With so many wonderful locations and vibrant communities it wasn’t a difficult decision for my wife and I to make. My research tells me we have a legacy of great contributions by many people and I want to build upon this legacy and make my own mark.
I am very keen to meet the staff team and find out how I can help them achieve the highest levels of job satisfaction possible and to ensure they have the right resources to do their jobs effectively.
I will be doing my best to visit all corners of the Council area to listen about any opportunities and better understand challenges being faced. In particular, I look forward to working with Councillors, and all the staff, to continue to deliver the services and amenity that compelled us to move here.
In the first 100 days I will be conducting a workshop with Councillors to determine their priorities for the future so we can all work together in building a better and stronger region.
Mr Dodds will commence on the 1st of February and in the meantime our Director of Operations and Major Projects, Scott Barber will act in the role.
