Enter Stage 3 again. Closed for Walk-ins, but open to the community by appointment – the sign of the times for Cohuna Neighbourhood House.
In ramping up and scaling down, community service centre Manager Tanya Black has been working busily behind the scenes supporting avenues to assist with broader community needs through these challenging times.
Delivery of Emergency relief pantry with hampers are still being provided. Printing services for border permits, photocopying, online forms through to publication of the Cohuna Neighbourhood House newsletter ‘Happenings’ are just some of the services provided remotely during the shut down.
“All courses are currently on hold and once restrictions ease there are plans in place for a new course - acrylic pouring. The metal art workshops will recommence.
“First Aid courses have been postponed,” said Tanya.
“People are continuing to make some masks from home and these will be distributed with the hampers for vulnerable people or those who can’t afford one within the community.
“The food cupboard has opened up and that’s going really well. People are dropping off lemons, mandarins and grapefruit at the moment. People can take what they need and give what they can,” she said.
“We have the all abilities community garden that has been put on hold also, however when Stage 3 finishes we will be running two workshops on how to make a wicking bed, which is very exciting.
