Going into Friday night’s cricket match at North Park in Swan Hill, the Under 16 Murray Raiders were down 20 runs.
When Kynan Laursen stepped onto the wicket, the opening batsman had 37 runs. A Swan Hill District Cricket Association rule, once at the 75-run mark, a batter must retire to allow other batters to bat. Laursen was on fire at the crease and is still the first Murray Raider to make 75 runs not out in a match this season.
The Murray Raiders, after 40 overs, were 7 for 171, including 42 extras. Xavier Leonard (7) and James McDonald (1) were not out.
Unfortunately, RSL were not at full strength and was down two players. By the 38th over, Murray Raiders had dismissed eight batters for 130 runs with 13 extras. Riley D’Silva, Max Snowdon, Angus McDonald, Jobe Hein, Kye McKerrow, and Xavier Leonard made catches. Zeb Hein was the top Murray Raiders bowler, bowling five overs, three wickets, 10 runs and one maiden.
The win places the Murray Raiders second on the ladder behind Nyah District. The Murray Raiders will face Woorinen at Murrabit Recreation Reserve on Friday, December 2 and 9.
