Murray River Council has received hundreds of submissions from each township via the Your Say page on the Art Trail designs concepts.
A council spokesperson said, “We’d like to thank the community for the exceptional number of submissions we had on the River Country Art Trail water tower design concepts.
“It was great to see all the positive and excited comments, along with constructive feedback too.”
Local steering committees and project consultants, FORM, will now review all the feedback to determine any adjustments that artists may be able to make in line with community voices. A report will then go to the August council meeting to commission the selected artists.
Due to Barham’s feedback reflecting a strong misalignment with the original Community Survey results (from Feb 2024) and the local steering committee, a new artist’s brief encompassing wider themes will be provided and new concept designs produced. These will be shared again for community feedback from August 2.
Residents of Moulamein are also concerned with the three options on the table; Drew Harris has called for a pause until it can be “sorted out.”
“It’s our view that if we have to cop one of the three, there is one we could put up with.
“We need to see if we can just put a hold on it, because we have had people ringing us to see when and how they can provide input.
“If you haven’t got a computer, you wouldn’t know what’s going on.
“We’ve done a lot of travel and seen lots of beautiful silo art, and I wouldn’t class any of them anywhere near it.”
