Moulamein CWA
On July 27, 2022, the Moulamein Country Women’s Association turned 95 years old. The ladies from this magnificent group celebrated by hosting a casserole luncheon two weeks ago. The event was held at the Moulamein Art Gallery, and we are extremely indebted to these ladies for allowing us to use their fabulous facility.
A huge thank you to the ladies that are part of the Murray Valley Group that travelled to Moulamein to dine with us. With the price of fuel, we are all thinking twice about jumping in the car and driving around the countryside.
Our delicious sponge birthday cake was made by June Webb from Barham, and it was a fight almost to the death to score the last slice. The candle on the birthday cake was extinguished by Hazel Kaylock. We thought that it might be a bit messy to blow out 95 candles, but Hazel made short work of eliminating the solitary flame. A huge vote of thanks to both June and Hazel. A great afternoon was had by all.
We gloat every chance we get to everybody who is listening that we are the oldest branch in Victoria. Victoria was a year behind New South Wales in forming its association, so having been a part of NSW, we were the first branch in Victoria. NSW, thinking that we were too far from Sydney to worry about the Moulamein Branch, suggested that we join Victoria.
We meet each third Thursday at 1pm in the old Bush Nursing Centre. All new members and prospective members would be made most welcome. Why not come along and see for yourself if CWA is for you.
On August 15, 2022, the Moulamein Branch will be hosting the Murray Valley Conference at the Moulamein Bowling Club. If this might interest you, please contact Ruth on 0407 978 056 for catering purposes.
