Barham Multipurpose Service has welcomed a new addition to the hospital emergency department with a brand new x-ray machine, thanks to generous donations from the Dickisons Foundation, Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, and COAG 19 funds.
The new all-digital machine uses less radiation and better clarity, meaning greater accuracy of images such as hips and spines.
Radiographer, Skye Ramsay, said that the new machine will be well utilised at the hospital, which currently offers the x-ray service on Wednesdays.
“This machine is a compact version of the ones you see in major hospitals, so it’s easier to move around, and this one will use only one-third of the radiation dose of normal x-ray.”
Although there is nothing mechanically wrong with the 11-year-old machine they had been using, the hospital has donated it to Finley Hospital.
