Our son Paul and myself stood on the tarmac of the Wollongong aerodrome, before us stood a Lockheed Super Constellation Aircraft (“Connie”). The outer right propeller was rotating and smoke and flames were soon beltching out of the exhaust. Soon the propeller became a circular blur as the eighteen cylinder radial engine burst into life. It wasn’t long until all four engines were running smoothly and the plane taxied to the end of the runway.
