The Cohuna A. P. & H. Society has made the difficult decision to cut the annual Cohuna Show back to a one-day limited format. An increased workload placed on volunteers to ensure a COVIDSafe event for a mass crowd, and lack of volunteers to fulfil those roles were key factors in the decision.
The Friday evening program has been cancelled altogether, and the Show will be held on Saturday, March 20 only. While the horse, cattle, poultry and dog competitions will proceed, pavilion entries will be limited to the horitculture section, plus classes that are qualifiers for regional and state competitions. A revised schedule will be available.
President, Tucker Peace, said, “Due to COVID-19 and the restriction of numbers through the gate, we have had to go back to a one-day show, on Saturday. Horses, cattle, poultry, dogs and a limited selection of pavilion exhibits will go ahead.”
Sideshows, rides and all entertainment has been cancelled. Entry by members of the public will be limited to those who have pre-purchased membership tickets, no tickets sales will be available at the gate.
The 110-year-old Show was held in a limited format in 2019 and cancelled altogether in 2020 and organisers are keen to give exhibitors the opportunity to compete this year, despite not having an audience.
