On a magnificent Friday evening, the Grand Final of the 2021 Mawson’s T20 Cricket Series came to a close with Wandella hosting Leitchville/Gunbower at Kerang’s Riverside Park Sports Reserve. Cricket fans did not leave disappointed, with a great display of technique, skill, and tenacity.

Wandella batted first. The top order of the batting fell apart for Wandella when B. Farley was bowled by A. Keath on one for nine with two runs. N.J. Henry was the next to fall on two for 14, bowled by L. Keath and caught by M. McEwen for two runs. D. Higgs fell next, three for 21, bowled by J. Keath. Wandella would go on to make 79 runs all out. P. Moore bowled by S. Tatt for 24 runs. L. Murray run out by O. O’Shea for two runs. G. Dickson caught by J. Lunghusen by a ball bowled by J. Wilson-Keir. J. McKnight bowled by J. Keath. K. Hodges caught and bowled by J. Keath. R. Barnes bowled by L. Keath.

The first wicket for Leitchville/Gunbower, one for 11 L. Keath, was run out by R. Barnes for six runs. B. Hawken was out next two for 11 Leg Before Wicket bowled by R. Barnes for two runs. J. Hawken three for 35 out for three runs, caught by P. Moore, bowled by D. Higgs. J. Lunghusen not out for 36, and O. O’Shea not out for 23.

Wandella bowling, R. Barnes bowled four overs, one maiden, 16 runs and one wicket. D. Higgs bowled three overs, 20 runs, one wicket. Fielding, P. Moore one catch, R. Barnes one run out.

Tatt four overs, one maiden, 17 runs, one wicket. J. Wilson-Keir four overs, 18 runs, one wicket. Fielding J. Keath, McEwen, J. Lunghusen all had one catch. O. O’Shea, one run out.

On a sad note, 2021 could be the last T20 for the Northern District Cricket Association.
