A great day for the last round of the home and away season and what a hectic day it was at the Koondrook tennis courts.

With three senior teams playing at home it was reminiscent of days gone by, lots of people, babies and great tennis.

Division One hosted Leitchville who had travelled by bus and were in for a big day. The boys dropped the first set, but that was the only blimp in their day. The girls had a harder day, only winning one set, so it was down to the mixed. Only winning one out of four, it wasn’t enough going down by 6 games, but it didn’t matter, they still finished on top and are ready to get things done over the next two weeks.

Division Two hosted Gannawarra in a huge game with the winner guaranteed a finals spot, the loser.. who knows!

The boys had one out of the box, winning all their sets even wining the two tiebreakers. The girls started slowly but eventually found their groove with some good wins. A few up going into the mixed they just had to bring it home, they ended up winning two out of four, which was enough getting up by 15 and heading straight into the finals.

Division Three hosted Murrabit in what ended up a cruisy day to get them in peak condition for finals.

The boys were in superb form and made short work of their sets, and the girls only dropped a couple of sets on their way to a huge win. The mixed was a walk in the park and this team ended their home and away on top after winning by 47 games.

The juniors headed to Leitchville, well they tried but due to some unexpected car trouble, the juniors unfortunately didn’t make it and had to forfeit.

Player of the day, for the second week in a row was Division 3 beast Shane, who only dropped an unbelievable 3 games, he is certainly looking the goods at the pointy end of the season.

Well its finals time!!!! We have all our senior teams in which is an amazing effort. The semi’s for all Koondrook teams will be in Kerang so Division One will be playing Murrabit, Division 2 Vs Barham and Division 3 Vs Kerang White. Everyone needs to bring a small plate of afternoon tea and meet at the courts at 12.00pm as play for finals begins at 1.00pm. Hopefully we will get a good crowd to cheer us on and then back to the courts after the end of the days play where Jacko will be cooking up a feast of pan fried snittys for everyone.

Good luck everyone, let’s see how many teams we can get into the Granny!

See you for finals. – Bash Hearty
