As local roads are closed, emergency services and the Gannawarra Shire Council are preparing the Kerang township to be isolated by flood waters for approximately two weeks. The Murray Valley Highway from Kerang to Swan Hill was closed on Tuesday afternoon, and Patchell Bridge on Wednesday evening.
Locals were advised at a town meeting on Sunday afternoon to leave early or prepare for two weeks of isolation. Residents with medical conditions were also advised to leave.

Predictions are that the Loddon River will rise to 2011 flood event levels.
