Just A Little Prick

The Royal Hotel had an unexpected customer in the bottle shop on Tuesday night. Staff and customers were taken aback by the tenacious mammal’s desire to enter the licenced premises.

Was this lone echidna subject to the Bubble Blues and looking to drown his sorrows? Speculation was rife that the echidna was in fact, Victorian, and failed to produce an applicable border permit, speculation fuelled by three NSW Police officers in pursuit, attempting to apprehend the spiky patron.

Sadly, the officers were unsuccessful in detaining the suspect. Thankfully one of the Royal Chefs stepped in, apprehending the suspect before relocating to a more suitable watering hole.

Had the echidna been aware of the potential fines incurred in his escape, he may of opted to stay at home–border crossing without a permit is a $11,000 fine, failing to fill contact details at a COVID-safe pub: up to $5000, failing to produce identification to officers, let alone resisting arrest!
