Local fire crews attended a house fire on the corner of Arbuthnot and Forest Streets, Koondrook, on Tuesday afternoon. 

Thanks to the speedy work of crews from Koondrook, Cohuna, Barham and Kerang, the blaze was brought under control.

The fire, which is believed to have originated in the chimney of the property, had spread to the ceiling space with flames visible when crews arrived. 

The fire is a timely reminder to check your chimney for creosote build-up or obstructions such as bird nests. Professional annual cleaning of your chimney is recommended.
