Funding of up to $60,000 for arts and cultural activities for NSW Aboriginal artists and arts and cultural workers

Creative Koori Project funding aims to build support for a strong, resilient and exciting Aboriginal arts and cultural sector for NSW. This will be done through embracing the principles of Aboriginal self-determination and putting Aboriginal artists, organisations and communities at the centre of funded cultural and creative activity.

This funding is only available to Aboriginal artists, arts and cultural workers, groups and organisations.

Your intended projects may cover the following elements:

  • NSW Aboriginal cultural development
  • Contemporary practice
  • Sharing NSW Aboriginal culture, the Aboriginal way
  • Promoting NSW Aboriginal culture
  • Strengthening the NSW Aboriginal arts and cultural sector

Aboriginal Community Languages

Status: Closes Friday 12 March 2021

Funding of up to $90,000 for Aboriginal local community groups and organisations who have a community focus on delivering Aboriginal language activities, building workforce capability and promoting the appreciation and use of Aboriginal Languages.

The Aboriginal Languages Community Investments Program 2021 aims to progress the functions of the Aboriginal Languages Act 2017 (NSW) by supporting the reawakening, growth, nurturing, promotion and awareness raising of Aboriginal languages in communities across NSW.

The Aboriginal Languages Trust is investing $800,000 in Aboriginal local community groups and organisations who have a community focus on delivering Aboriginal language activities, building workforce capability and promoting the appreciation and use of Aboriginal Languages.

NSW Aboriginal Land Council Fishing Fund

Status: Ongoing

Both loans and grants for up to $500,000.00 are available to existing or start-up Aboriginal fishing businesses for aqua-culture, wild harvest or charter fishing.

The NSWALC Fishing Fund is a partnership with the Commonwealth Governments’ National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and aims to support the growth and development of the NSW Aboriginal fishing industry to achieve long term economic and employment opportunities.

Both loans and grants are available to existing or start-up Aboriginal fishing businesses for aqua-culture, wild harvest or charter fishing. Applicants can apply for up to $500,000.00 for individual loans or grants

Coles Nurture Fund

Status: Friday 19 March 2021

From Australia’s first quinoa processing facility, to chickpea tofu, to home grown garlic and to Australian first prawn farming technology, the Coles Nurture Fund is helping Aussie producers bring their big ideas to life. Small and medium sized businesses can apply for a grant of up to $500,000.00 to help them develop new market-leading products, technologies and processes.

Coles launched the $50 million Nurture Fund in April 2015 to help small and medium sized businesses innovate and grow. Since beginning, $24 million in financial support to more than 60 Australian food & liquor producers.

Water Efficiency Program

Status: Sunday 30 June 2024

The Water Efficiency Program provides funding to eligible water rights holders in the Murray-Darling Basin to help them upgrade their water infrastructure to improve water usage efficiency.

Over $1.5 billion is available to improve water efficiency and deliver 450 gigalitres of water for the environment by 2024.

Water saving projects must demonstrate a neutral or positive social and economic impact for the community. Participants will:

  • implement the project as agreed
  • return an agreed volume of saved water rights to the Australian Government
  • keep any extra water savings that the project generates.

Project funding is up to 1.75 times the current market value of the water rights you will transfer

Wettenhall Environmental Trust Small Environmental Grant Scheme

Status: Ongoing

Providing support for grassroots organisations and individuals undertaking projects that will make a positive difference to flora and fauna conservation and threatened mammal conservation.

Projects of interest are:

  • Flora and Fauna conservation Australia-wide
  • Threatened Mammal conservation Australia-wide
  • The projects should involve aspects of the following:
  • Monitoring, recording and sharing data
  • Delivery community education
  • Providing community capacity building (eg training)
  • Research and science

A payment for farming families in financial hardship. Participants will require:

  • Be a farmer or partner of a farmer

Country Women’s Association of NSW Drought Aid

Status: Ongoin

Drought Aid Grants offer assistance of up to $3000 to help meet household expenses. Household expenses might include grocery bills, vehicle maintenance, school, electricity, rates (up to $1000 per instalment), telephone, dental and medical (gap payments or cost of travel to access treatment) etc. for expenses that are current - both paid and unpaid.

Drought Community Support Initiative (DC SI) – Round 2

Status: Ongoing

The Australian Government Drought Community Support Initiative (DCSI) Round 2 provides financial assistance to farmers, farm workers, contractors and suppliers impacted by the drought.

The DCSI provides a one-off $3000 cash payment to eligible households. Vinnies is assisting to distribute the funds.

The payment is limited to one per household.

Farm Innovation Fund

This program is an incentive-based initiative to assist farmers within New South Wales to identify and address risks to their farming enterprises, improve permanent farm infrastructure, ensure long term productivity and sustainable land use plus aiding in meeting changes to seasonal conditions.

Individual Funding

Funding of up to $60,000 to support innovation, vibrancy and creativity within the NSW arts and cultural sector. Funding can go towards a range of arts and cultural activities such as new project development and/or presentation, research, professional development, community and audience engagements.

Project funding supports innovation, vibrancy and creativity within the NSW arts and cultural sector. It aims to deliver a dynamic and diverse range of arts and cultural experiences to communities across NSW, contribute to the development of a vibrant and accessible arts and cultural sector, and support the employment and development of professional NSW-based artists and arts and cultural workers.

Community Broadcasting Foundation – Content Grants

Content grants support the development, production and distribution of content via Australian community media.

Our guiding principles, approach and goals relating to content grants are outline in our Supporting Content Framework.

This year we are particularly looking to:

  • increase community participation and diversity in community broadcasting and/or
  • support creativity and excellence in content production.

Content grants are distributed twice per year, with the greater portion allocated in Round 1.

Content grants include funds specifically dedicated to Specialist Radio Programming. This portion of our content grants funding is available to support ongoing ethnic, Indigenous and RPH programs. Developing dynamic content enhances community media in Australia.

Specialist Radio Programming Grant

Stations producing content that meets the needs of particular communities may be eligible for dedicated Specialist Radio Programming Content grants. This funding is intended to encourage stations to incorporate:

  • RPH programs to serve people with a print disability
  • Ethnic programs to serve a defined local ethnic community
  • Indigenous programs

Development & Operations Grants

Development & Operations grants aim to support community media station resilience by strengthening governance, building community, sustainable operations and technical capacity

Your application must clearly demonstrate how the proposed activities address one or more of the areas listed below:

  • Governance – strategic planning, technology planning, developing open and transparent governance policies and procedures, recruiting and maintaining a governance team with diverse skills and experiences
  • Sustainable operations – improving the financial sustainability, and/or reducing the environmental impact of community media
  • Building community – engaging the diverse members of your community.

Museums and Galleries of NSW Small Grants

Small Grants offer up to $2000 to meet the short-term, collection-based requirements of community museums. There are no set categories for funding, and applications for a broad range of projects will be considered. Small Grants are open to museums and Aboriginal Cultural Centres (with artefact collections and displays) with up to two full time paid staff members (no more than 70 hours of paid staffing per week) as well as museum networks such as Museums Australia Chapters.

PPCA Sound Recording Partnership

Status: Closes Tuesday 13 April 22021 at 3pm

The Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) and the Australia Council for the Arts will deliver a grant partnership, the PPCA Sound Recording Partnership.

This partnership will support five Australian artists or groups to create new sound recordings.

There are five grants of, $15,000 (ex GST) each, available.

The Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) represents thousands of Australian recording artists when their music is used in public. In 2019 PPCA distributed almost $50 million to its registered artists and record labels. It is free for Australian artists to register with PPCA.

PPCA will also support the grant scheme by providing the recipients with guidance and assistance on registering with PPCA, in order to maximise their opportunities to access public performance and broadcast income from the recordings created.

Regional Arts Quick Response Grants

Status: Closes Wednesday 30 June 2021

Made available under the Regional Arts Fund allocation for NSW, these Grants offer funding of up to $2000 to assist regional artists, arts organisations and communities to take up professional or skills development or small project opportunities.

The objectives of the Fund are to support and promote participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture in regional and remote Australia by:

  • Encouraging and supporting sustainable economic, social and cultural development in regional communities;
  • Developing partnerships and networks which leverage financial and/or in-kind support for specific projects and encourage ongoing collaboration;
  • Developing audiences and broadening community engagement with the arts; and
  • Increasing employment and professional development opportunities for, and raise the profile of, regional and remote artists.

Museums and Galleries of NSW Leg Up Grants

Leg Up Grants are quick response skill development grants for workers in volunteer managed museums throughout NSW. These grants fund various skill development projects including hosting or attending workshops, conferences or seminars in NSW, in addition to networking activities.

Previous Leg Up Grants have funded museum volunteers to attend conferences and workshops, and to gain training in areas of museum practice including paper conservation, oral history, disaster preparedness and significance assessment

Skills Development Grants provide funding to volunteer museums and museum networks for regional or state focused skill development training and networking events. There are no set categories for funding, and applications for a broad range of projects will be considered.

Previous Skills Development Grants provided funding for the “Working Spaces for Museum Volunteers” Conferences, regional training workshops on a cataloguing software program, Disaster Planning and Significance workshops.

Skills Development Grants are open to museums and Aboriginal Cultural Centres (with artefact collections and displays) with up to two full time paid staff members (no more than 70 hours of paid staffing per week) as well as museum networks such as Museums Australia Chapters.

Small Project Grants (Quick Response)

Status: Ongoing

Small Project Grants support the creation, development and presentation of new work and professional development or promotion for NSW-based professional artists and arts and cultural workers. (Please see Definitions at the bottom of this page).

You can apply for between $500 and $5000 towards your project.

Important notice: Small Project Grants (Quick Response) program and Public Health Orders.

As relevant updates are provided by the NSW Government, Create NSW’s Small Project Grants program will be redefined to address the public health orders.

The grant aims to:

  • Enable professional artists and arts and cultural workers to participate in outstanding time-sensitive opportunities, including those offered via online and other means than in-person contact
  • Build the capacity and skills of professional artists and arts and cultural workers including, but not limited to, online mentoring, development and residency opportunities
  • Support professional artists and arts and cultural workers to develop new projects/work
  • Support professional artists to explore the possibilities of presenting work in ways that is consistent with public health orders
  • Support professional artists to respond to the impacts of the 2019 bushfire season and COVID-19 crises, for local communities, in supportive and creative ways
  • Strengthen the capacity of NSW-based professional artists and arts and cultural workers to become arts and cultural leader

Dine & Discover NSW

Status: Now accepting business registrations

The NSW Government has launched Dine & Discover NSW to support local dinning, arts and tourism businesses and encourage the community to get out and about. NSW residents aged 18 and over will be eligible for four $25 vouchers, worth $100 in total: two $25 vouchers to be used for eating in at restaurants, cafes, bars, wineries, pubs and clubs and two $25 vouchers to be used for entertainment and recreation, including cultural institutions, live music, and arts venues. All eligible businesses across NSW can now register to be part of the scheme.

Further to NDIS Success program, organisations are invited to apply for one-to-one support from CBB’s Business Consultants to develop a new or grow an existing NDIS service. The support will focus on assisting organisations to develop a new or grow an existing NDIS service that they can take to market in their community.

Cyber Security Skills Partnership Innovation Fund

Status: Thursday 11 March 2021

Co-funding grants of up to $3 million to deliver innovative projects that improve the quality or availability of cyber security professionals in Australia.

The Cyber Security Skills Partnership Innovation Fund provides industry and education providers with funding to deliver innovative projects that meet local requirements to quickly improve the quality or availability of cyber security professionals in Australia.

Under the 2020 Cyber Security Strategy, the Cyber Security National Workforce Growth Program recognises skilled cyber professionals are essential for keeping Australians secure online, and to underpin government and industry capability and capacity. The Cyber Security Skills Partnership Innovation Fund is part of this program.

The objectives of the Cyber Security Skills Partnership Innovation Fund are to:

  • Improve the quality or quantity of cyber security professionals in Australia, including increasing the participation of women in cyber security
  • Improve collaboration between industry and the education sector to build the quality and availability of cyber security professionals in Australia
  • Support industry and academia to build Australia’s future pipeline of skilled cyber security professionals.

The intended outcomes of the Cyber Security Skills Partnership Innovation Fund are:

  • Increased availability of cyber security professionals in Australia
  • Increased quality of cyber security professionals in Australia
  • Increased participation of women in cyber security professions
  • innovative or new ways to improve cyber security skills
  • stronger partnerships between industry and education providers to enhance cyber security related skills.

We expect that the types of projects that will be competitive for funding will include collaborations between organisations such as industry associations and other bodies, higher education and vocational education providers, secondary schools, local and state governments, and businesses.

COVID-19 Consumer Travel Support Program

Status: Saturday 13 March 2021 at 12am

The COVID-19 Consumer Travel Support Program (the program) will provide a one-off payment in financial year 2020-21 to assist travel agents and tour arrangement service providers who have been disproportionately impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The objective of the program is to:

  • Assist travel agents, and tour arrangement service providers, that qualify for the Jobkeeper scheme, by providing immediate, short term financial support, including for the purpose of ensuring that they can continue to trade and meet their legal obligations to process refunds and credits to Australian consumers.

The intended outcomes of the program are:

  • To assist Australian consumers to receive refunds and credits for travel they were unable to undertake due to the impacts of COVID-19; and
  • To assist travel agents and tour arrangement service providers to continue to trade or to recommence trade, where possible.

Business Events Grants Program

Status: Closes Tuesday 30 March 2021

Grants of up to $250,000 to cover up to 50 per cent of costs incurred in participating at pre-approved business to business events as buyers or sellers during the 2021 calendar year. An expression of interest (EOI) for event owners to apply to have their event included on the Schedule of Approved Business Events remains open until 26 February 2021.

To encourage and support people in obtaining their first farming business. To assist with farm business succession planning and giving effect to succession plans.

  • Fund the purchase of an existing farm business, including land, infrastructure and other farm business assets
  • Fund the purchase of land, infrastructure and other farm business assets as part of establishing or developing a farm business
  • Buy out relatives during farm business succession
  • Pay costs associated with the succession planning process
  • Pay for legal costs or stamp duty

If you recently purchased a farm business, or received it as part of succession arrangements and are seeking capital to get it up and running, you can use this loan to:

  • Invest in new infrastructure, machinery or productivity enhancements
  • Cover operating expenses
  • Refinance certain existing debt at our low interest rate to improve cash flow

Regional Job Creation Fund

Status: Closes Friday 14 May 2021 at 5pm

The Regional Job Creation Fund supports regional investment and job creation by offering up to $10 million in co-funding to activate or bring forward regional projects in engine, enabling or emerging engine industries. Examples of eligible projects could include the:

  • Replacement, upgrade or adaptation of plant and equipment at an existing regional NSW business
  • Establishment of an additional production line for an existing regional NSW business
  • Onshoring of activity currently done overseas to a regional NSW location
  • Development of new regional tourism experiences and visitor attractions
  • Relocation of a business operation from out of state to regional NSW.

The Regional Job Creation Fund’s focus is to co-fund projects creating at least five sustainable regional jobs. Applicants must provide a minimum 50% cash co-contribution to the project and the NSW Government contribution will be no more than $20,000 per new job created through the project.

Jobs Plus Program

Status: Closes Thursday 30 June 2022

Jobs Plus is open to businesses who create at least a net growth of 30 new full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs as part of a business project in NSW before 30 June 2024. The program can offer Payroll tax relief for up to 4 years, training, apprenticeships or internship rebates, infrastructure rebates, access to subsidised, short-term Government accommodation and spaces, assistance with planning approvals in NSW.

Your company should be capable of running a successful business venture or project that will create 30 new jobs in NSW to qualify for support. A ‘project’ is defined as planned business activities with capital investment leading to job creation with an overall increase of at least 30 permanent, ongoing FTE employees before 30 June 2024.

Examples of eligible projects include activities that invest in equipment and facilities. These include:

  • Relocating your business operation from out-of-state or internationally to NSW
  • Establishing or adding a production line to your existing NSW business
  • Developing a new product or service
  • Transferring business activities that are currently performed by your company overseas to NSW.

Advanced Manufacturing Early Stage Research Fund

Status: Closes Wednesday 30 June 2021 at 5pm

The AMESRF is a $4 million funding initiative, and forms part of the $100 million Advanced Manufacturing Fund which will boost innovation, skills and employment in advanced manufacturing. The grant will run over four years with funding of $1 million per year from 2017–18 to 2020–21.

The intent of the AMESRF is to support small-scale and pilot research projects in advanced manufacturing and benefit smaller firms and early stage research. The fund will provide grants to SMEs for rapid initial feasibility testing, allowing the projects to then move quickly to larger-scale research or commercialisation.

Grants between $100,000 and $400,000 are available.

Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment

Status: Ongoing

Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment is a lump sum payment to help you during the 14 days you need to self-isolate, quarantine or care for someone. If you need longer term help, check to see what other payments you may be eligible to get by using our payment guide.

The Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment is for people living in New South Wales who can't earn an income because they must self-isolate, quarantine or care for someone who has COVID-19.

You must be directed to self-isolate or quarantine by NSW Health.

Employer Support Payment Scheme (ESPS)

Status: Ongoing

The Employer Support Payment Scheme (ESPS) provides financial assistance to employers of Reservists and self-employed Reservists when the Reservist is absent from their civilian workplace on eligible periods of Defence service.

For Reservists in full-time employment, ESPS payments are made at a set weekly rate equivalent to Full-Time Adult Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earning (AWOTE):

  • The FY 2019-20 payment rate is $1,604.90 per week
  • The FY 2020-21 payment rate is $1,658.70 per week

For Employers of medical, dental, nursing or allied health Officers or self-employed Reservists in this category, higher level or capability ESPS payments may be payable in accordance with CDF Health Approval

IMCRC Activate

Status: Ongoing

In response to COVID-19 and to help Australian manufacturers on their road of recovery, a new funding initiative, IMCRC activate, has been created that provide opportunities to invest in shorter-term R&D projects with reduced barriers and financial commitment.

Eligible businesses will have access to matched funding of $50,000 to $100,000 to undertake research with one of IMCRC’s partner universities and/or CSIRO.

In line with the IMCRC activate project assessment criteria, projects must:

  • Be industry-led, deliver clear manufacturing outcomes and be completed within a 6-12 month timeframe
  • Apply innovative manufacturing technologies and business models, including Industry 4.0
  • Have a business innovation and transformation plan and/or Industry 4.0 adoption plan
  • Include new project intellectual property (IP)and know-how owned by the industry lead
  • Involve ideally also other Australian manufacturing SMEs as collaborators (e.g. partners, suppliers, customers) to support local supply chains.

Projects that also deliver outcomes aligned with Australia’s national/sovereign priorities, including COVID-19, and/or provide environmental and sustainability solutions, are welcome. In exceptional circumstances, IMCRC may be able to match investments up to $150,000 in cash where there is a strong criteria fit.

Employment Assistance Fund (EAF)

Status: Ongoing

The EAF gives financial help to eligible people with disability and mental health conditions and employers to buy work related modifications, equipment, Auslan services and workplace assistance and support services. The EAF is available to eligible people with disability who are about to start a job, are self-employed or who are currently working. It is also available to people with disability who need Auslan assistance or special work equipment to look for and prepare for a job.

The EAF could help to buy work related modifications and services like:

  • The cost of making adjustments to your physical workplace
  • Modifications to work vehicles
  • Special equipment for the workplace
  • Information and communication devices
  • Auslan interpreting services
  • Specialist services for employees with specific learning disorders and mental health conditions
  • Disability awareness training for the workplace (including deafness awareness)
  • Mental health awareness and first aid training.

Entrepreneurs’ Programme – Growth Grants

Status: Ongoing

Growth Grants are an Entrepreneurs’ Programme grant to help your business grow.

The Entrepreneurs’ Programme provides access to a national network of experienced facilitators. They'll work with you to improve your business practices, become more competitive, and take advantage of growth opportunities.

The Growth Grant will help you improve specific business areas that your facilitator recommended in your roadmap or plan. You must have received a roadmap or plan before you can apply for a Growth Grant.

You must use the grant to improve the ability and skills of your business to trade. For instance, you can engage external experts to help implement recommendations from the roadmap or plan. You can't use it to fix problems that are part of the normal running of your business.

You can get up to 50% of eligible project costs. The minimum grant amount is $2500 (excluding GST). The maximum amount is $20,000 (excluding GST).

The grant is for 1 year. For each Growth service you receive, you can only apply once for this grant. You can use the grant to implement some or all of the recommendations in your roadmap or plan.

Regional Skills Relocation Grant NSW

The NSW Government offers a range of incentives to attract new and growing businesses to regional NSW.

The NSW Government has established the Regional Skills Relocation Grant to increase the availability of skilled and experienced workers for businesses setting up in, relocating to, or existing in regional NSW.

Grants will be available for businesses operating in NSW regional eligible industries. The funding is available to assist with the relocation costs of eligible skilled workers they employ that move from metropolitan areas to regional NSW.

Approved businesses will be reimbursed up to $10,000 to assist with relocation costs incurred by eligible skilled workers they employ

Regional Sports Facility Fund

The NSW Government recognises the critical role local sport infrastructure plays in keeping communities healthy, active and connected.

The NSW Government has committed $50 million to the Regional Sport Facility Fund over two-years, helping create spaces and facilities that enable communities to enjoy and take part in sport.

The Fund will assist eligible organisations to develop quality core sport infrastructure that will meet the current and future needs of the community.

The Fund will support the development of well-designed and utilised new and improved sport infrastructure projects that can directly impact and support participation and performance opportunities in sports at all levels.

The Fund will focus on sporting facilities that deliver the best outcomes for the community. It will ensure that the best possible value for money is achieved.

Community Conservation Grants

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife invites grant applications for conservation projects. The purpose of our Community Conservation Grants is to assist in the protection of our native species, habitats, landscapes and cultural heritage.

Grants are available for both field projects and education programs that have a direct outcome for nature conservation in Australia. All proposals are evaluated by FNPW's Projects Committee based on funding priorities, funds available and quality and quantity of projects submitted.

FNPW may support approved projects through untied funds that belong to FNPW, or it may choose to run a targeted public appeal or seek third party sponsorship for the project.

FNPW Community Conservation Grants aim to fund urgent and high priority projects.

Building Better Regions Fund

Grants of $20,000 to $10 million to cover 50% or more of eligible project costs to support projects that provide economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas. NAB Foundation Community Grants aim to help safeguard communities with funding for projects that prepare for natural disasters, support long-term recovery and build resilience against future disasters. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to fund local projects aiming to do one or more of the following:

  • Help people and places prepare for natural disasters
  • Assist in short and long-term recovery efforts
  • Build community resilience against future disasters
  • Strengthen the environment to be more resilient to natural disasters
  • Help communities reduce their climate risk

NSW Cookery Teachers Association Scholarship

The scholarship is offered to public school students completing Year 12 who have obtained a high degree of proficiency in the subject of Food Technology and who intend to continue to university to study a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent with a major in Food Technology.
