Gannawarra Shire Citizen Of The Year - Pattie McDonald
Gannawarra Shire Councillor, Ross Stanton, Pattie McDonald and Mayor Charlie Gillingham.

Pattie McDonald is a passionate volunteer in both the Murrabit community and the wider Gannawarra Shire.

“A foundation member of the Murrabit and District Lions Club, Pattie has been instrumental in the Lions Club’s involvement in the popular Murrabit Country Market,” Mayor Gillingham said.

“Pattie is also heavily involved in the Kerang Quilters Club, the Murrabit Country Market and the Meals on Wheels program, and has previously held roles with the Murrabit Football and Netball Clubs, Murrabit Pre-School, Myall Primary School and the Kerang Technical High School Council.

“Pattie is a person who doesn’t have spare time, but gives freely of her time to so many community causes with passion and enthusiasm.”

Pattie was born in Barham to parents Max and Jean Mathers, who ran a dairy farm. She later married Andrew McDonald and moved to Myall.

“It’s been an honour to be the Gannawarra Citizen of the year,” Pattie said.

“But you must remember I am only one cog in the great wheel of volunteers throughout Gannawarra who strive to make things happen for the benefit of all our communities.

“It’s (Gannawarra) a great place to bring up a family, diverse opportunity for recreation and sport etc, our waterways and lakes are amazing assets to our shire, agriculture and manufacturing provide employment and the businesses in town that we support and through them they support many events throughout the shire and that’s never overlooked, we always appreciate that support.”
