December, summer, Christmas on the way, followed by New Year – this year has flown! The Barham Koondrook Lions Club will be there, assisting in many places and ways.
Firstly, I would like to introduce new members to our ‘Lions’ team of loyal workers – Desi Agelakis, Greg and Carol Webster, and Danny Griffiths. We welcome you and thank you for becoming Lions and volunteering your time to a worthy cause. There is plenty of room for other people who wish to also join our Lions team.
We help people in time of need, events, organisations and emergency services when needed. Meetings are on the second Monday of the month at Riverside Park Reception Rooms at 8pm, or approach one of our members and ask.
On Saturday, December 9, we had a totally new experience as one of the catering crews at the Moulamein Horse Races; we supplied the barbecue lunch for a lot of people who were out for a great day. Cool room, food, generators, barbecues, tents, food warmers, utensils – all transported to an unknown venue, Moulamein Racetrack, all went well. Big thank you to organisers, transporters and workers. A job well done.
I would like to thank the Murray Haven Auxiliary members for supplying us with a wonderful meal on November 27 at our annual Lions dinner. Thank you greatly.
Events coming up are the Christmas Eve Mardi Gras, the spinning wheel at the New Year’s Eve party at Apex Park Koondrook, and the Australia Day breakfast on January 26.
Merry Christmas to all!
