Lloyd’s Walk for Water If you’re interested in the water problems of our beautiful Murray Darling Basin you’re not alone. Our rivers are being raped by those who claim to save them. To solve a problem, we must clearly identify the problem. In...
I’ve been honoured to give a few talks this year.
I’ve met some awesome people and although no two people are the same, many of us are afflicted with the same struggles, caused by a myriad of life events or issues.
Often what should be our biggest advocate, is our biggest critique, hater or saboteur, your mind/thoughts/eco.
When you consider it, your mind is the only thing that is guaranteed to always be with you, maybe in different intensities.
Think about the impact of bullying on kids, now how much technology has increased the reach of the negative comments, hate, criticism and put downs.
How does your own brain treat you?
Are the comments positive or negative?
While the mind’s intensity is manipulatable, it’s hard to find the stillness when you’re being constantly run down.
What does hate or negative comments do to people?
What do the studies show when plants are subject to hate and negative comments.
Basically you’re not alone. There’s always the opportunity for change.
As Winston Churchill said “If you’re going through hell, just keep going.”
I’ve found the only constant in life is change. There’s a great eastern analogy for the events of life being the weather storm, we have no control over the storm but opportunity.
The analogy goes on to say our choice is whether to be the tree or the grass.
If you imagine a red gum fighting the storm and getting torn to pieces, then the grass that went through the same storm is undamaged, the grass’s ability to go with the flow – be flexible – is its saving grace.
Not always easy to let go of what we think should happen.
So be kind to yourself, and because you don’t know what someone is going through, be kind to others.
A word of caution. Be aware some use ‘going with the flow’ in an attempt to get you to ignore your own moral or value compass, you know that gut feel, some even call it the pub test. (You’re not negative for standing against corruption and injustice).
