Falling Foul of Facebook

“Take me away, shackle me in chains Lord Zuckerberg and haul me off, I am not worthy.”

Okay, maybe that’s a touch dramatic? I’m sorry to say The Bridge has fallen foul of Facebook’s community standards. In what have been about four recent attempts to remove Bridge articles from the platform, one was recently successful. In what Facebook called attempting to get likes, follows, shares or video views in a misleading way, our post was removed.

What was the post? Surely it was a crazy conspiracy theory. It was the wild, outlandish story of Telstra shutting down the 3G network and for locals to check their devices! Apparently, the article written using information from Telstra goes against Facebook’s Community Standards. Unfortunately, the digital gods didn’t allow me a chance to challenge the ruling.

The removal comes at a time when I also received a warning from Facebook for sharing the front page of the Telegraph UK, with no added commentary. Facebook appears happy to silence and suppress, yet I still can’t seem to stop the ten dodgy friend requests a week. Who would have thought!
