On October 30, 2020 the Barham Sports Bowling Club held its final Presentation Night.

Quite a while coming because of COVID-19 but finally holding it. It was called An End of An Era. 1967 – 2020.

President Alan Thomas welcomed everybody, saying what a great year for our Club, with Saturday Pennant Div 1 and Div 3 making the finals and Midweek Pennant Div 1 and Div 2 also in the finals, with Division 2 taking out the Premiership. Congratulations to all of the Div 2 players proudly wearing their medals all night.

A great turn up of past and present bowlers reminiscing with plenty of laughter making the night an enjoyable and unforgettable one.  There were a few Golden Girls who each received an orchid, presented by the ladies president Elaine with Rob, who travelled from Tongala for the evening. And a couple of men from an earlier wave of bowls were present as well. It was fantastic to see them come along to see the Club off.   There was a sprinkling of people, players, ex players, life members, spouses and/or partners.    It was a great night with a beautiful three-course meal, thanks to Aaron and Sophie. Presentations were given to the Club Champions, Men , Phil Goudie Runner Up Glenn Faul and Ladies Bev Berry  Runner Up Faye Graco. The Mens Championship Pairs went to Graham Archard and Gordon Graeme runners up were Damien Paterson and Eric Graco The Ladies Pairs were Hilary Archard and Bev Berry with runners up Elaine Hosking and Gael Mathers.

Elaine and Rob made the trip to come and see everyone and to make sure they were part of the night.    It was terrific to see them again... Along with the night’s proceedings were a couple of OBE’s. Graham Archard and Phil Mertz (better late than never) received their 80 Badges.

Another couple of presentations were made to Jeannie Mathers and Marj Ryland on turning 90 years of age.

An award from Bowls Victoria was made to them both.

With the merging of the two clubs there should be a few strong competitions for Saturday and Midweek Pennant.  Good luck to all.
