When the Christmas Mardi Gras was cancelled in December due to Covid problems, the Lions Club decided to run an Easter Mardi Gras instead. We will be attempting to hold it on Easter Saturday in the Riverside Park. Planning is still proceeding but it will be based on the popular Christmas Eve event. We have found that this is an event which allows locals and visitors to mix together (with safe distancing of course). Many returning locals have found it a great way to meets up with old friends.

At this stage we are planning for the Jumping Castle, Spinning Wheel, Snow Cones, Fairy Floss, a BBQ run by the “Do it for Langy” group, Fruit Salad, a Car Boot Sale, and music provided by a local entertainer. It is hoped that we can run a ‘Show and Shine’ event as well. So those locals who like to dress up their cars and show them off will be given a chance to do that. If anybody has any other ideas, please let one of the Lions know and we will definitely consider them.

As has been the tradition, we are inviting other local groups to run their own raffles or publicity stands. If your organisation wishes to be there, it would be appreciated if you could let Garry Cook at Boyd Hardware know so that we can plan a space and table for you.

Lions will be drawing their raffle of the hand carts of Easter eggs or handcart of household items on the night. You can buy tickets from sellers before Easter or on the night.

We are planning a start at about 4pm and finish when it gets dark. This will be the last day of daylight savings this summer so it is our last chance to celebrate a bit later. There will be more information to come in the future.
