It is going to be big. The biggest Cohuna has ever seen. At least, that’s the plan – but it can’t happen without you.
In 2025, Cohuna will celebrate 150 years since it was proclaimed a village, announced in the Victoria Government Gazette published on November 26, 1875 (see image).
A lot has happened in that time – that goes without saying – and the district’s growth, achievements and people must be recognised and acknowledged. But how? Will it be a town parade, will it be a Back to Cohuna, will it involve just a week or will it be a year-long party?
This is where you come in. The Cohuna and District Progress Association hopes to initiate a town-wide working group so that as many individuals, families, community organisations, groups and clubs can be involved. Anyone with an interest in Cohuna and district is invited and encouraged to be involved.
At this early stage, nothing has been planned. Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly plenty of suggestions being thrown around, but unless there are the people to drive the celebrations, they won’t come alive.
Can you spare some time to join the working group? Do you have an idea of how the whole town can celebrate? Get in touch with any Progress member, see Karen Mitchell at Kazz’s Heels, or email cohuna150committee@gmail.com to find out more.
Let’s get the celebrations off the ground. Don’t let the 150th celebrations pass us by.
