Cruising for the Kids
The Gannawarra Memorial Toy Run enjoyed its 11th year of rumbling through the district. Around 80 motorcycles and 50 cars came together to raise funds and collect donations for kids and families in need at Christmas. The bikes started in the chilly morning conditions at Leitchville, and snaked their way across to the waiting procession of cars in Victoria Street, Kerang. A large crowd mingled amongst the crowd, while participants enjoyed a Kerang Lions cook-up! It wasn’t long before the cylinders of all shapes and sizes fired up, turning fuel into happiness, and powering their way over Wesby Hill on their way to Koondrook. For the first time in the run’s history, Barham missed out as the red tape of traffic management plans claimed another victim. Koondrook turned on the charm with generous donations from both Mates Pub and the Koondrook General Store, and a crowd of excited kids, both young and old! The final leg of the run was in Cohuna, which coincided with the town’s 150-year anniversary. A spectacular Show and Shine was enjoyed before many stayed on for the evening’s live music and fabulous feed!
