Gannawarra Shire Council will meet on Tuesday, 9 June at 1pm to hear from residents who submitted feedback regarding Council’s 2020/2021 Proposed Budget.

The draft version of Council’s key financial document for the coming 12 months was placed on public display between 16 April and 25 May, with 16 submissions received.

“Council undertook an extensive and innovative community engagement process, highlighted by the distribution of digital information packs to contacts representing more than 200 community organisations, Progress Associations, Development Committees, schools, health providers and sporting clubs,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“The 2020/2021 Proposed Budget was also advertised widely thanks to the use of social media to provide every opportunity for residents, ratepayers and community organisations to be aware of how this financial blueprint benefits their community, as well as how to respond.

“Those who submitted feedback were able to choose whether to have their submission heard at a Meeting of Council, with some residents opting to take up this opportunity.”

As Council is operating in accordance with the new COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Act 2020, this meeting will be closed to public, however the meeting will be live-streamed online at www.facebook.com/gannawarra

“Although this meeting will be closed from physical contact, Council is making arrangements for residents or community organisation representatives wishing to have their submissions heard to do so through digital technology," Mayor Learmonth said.

“All submissions received will be considered by Council in the development of the final version of the 2020/2021 Budget, which will be presented for adoption at the June Ordinary Council Meeting.”
