Have you ever thought about becoming a member of the Barham High School (BHS) Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association? Well now is the perfect time to consider it.

Our community whole-heartedly supports local school students to progress through school but have you wondered what happens to P&C’s when families move on?

The reality is that school P&C’s continue to function with limited community input. Nobody seems to make a fuss, after-all P&C’s are an essential component of the school community and their function is low key.

School P&C’s exist to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, pupils and teaching staff into close co-operation. School students are able to share their voice through the Student Representative Council at P&C meetings.

Fundraising tends to deter people from joining committees but raising funds is not the primary objective of the BHS P&C. School P&C’s create opportunities for families to engage in their child’s education and are an important part of the school.

So, if you have a student enrolled at the BHS please think about sharing your time with the school community and attending the 2020 BHS P&C AGM. You may be surprised how rewarding it is to be part of your school P&C. Usually a lot of laughs are shared at the brief monthly meetings.

The BHS P&C AGM will be on Monday, October 19 at 6pm at the old Raiders Clubrooms.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
