Cohuna Tennis Club – Notes March 13
Semi-finals this week with all games held in Kerang. Cohuna was well represented with seniors and both junior teams making it to the semi-final showdown. In the morning we held the last development squad and Hotshot’s sessions, in 33-degree heat, strong humidity and no wind. The afternoon was a very different season as the cool change came through. Jumpers and umbrellas were needed, however, it remained dry enough to play through with results achieved in all divisions.
Club Championships
Our annual Club Championships will be held on March 20 at the Cohuna courts at 3pm. This will be followed by presentations and dinner. Simply turn up if you want to play.
Development Squad and Hotshots
The last Hotshots and Development squad session were held on Saturday morning with presentations following. Congratulations to Evie Carmichael, Casey Baker, Charlie Hauser and Lana Farrant who received most improved awards. A massive thank you to our coaches, Harrison Cleave and Jason Hensley, who have given their time and effort all year to make these programs available.
Twilight
There are still two weeks left of twilight. With the evenings getting shorter, please make it a priority to get started early. The leaderboard is looking very tight for both divisions so the next couple of weeks will be interesting.
Semi-finals Seniors (Cohuna Vs Murrabit)
Cohuna Seniors played Murrabit in the semi-finals with the winner heading through to the grand final. In cool and damp conditions, the teams battled it out in a very close encounter, with the men dropping four games, one set to two. The women were three games up with two sets to one. This resulted in a one game deficit heading into the mixed. Dropping another seven games, and one set to two sets down, it would be Murrabit heading to Barham next week in the decider. Congratulations to the Murrabit side, we wish you all the best for next week.

Semi-finals – Juniors Cohuna Gold vs Kerang
Cohuna Gold played Kerang in this knock out event. Dropping all the singles sets, Cohuna would find it extremely difficult to reign back Kerang’s 12 game lead. Even grabbing two sets in the doubles was not enough to push Cohuna into the grand final next week. Well done, Kerang, on making it to the grand final, we wish you all the best.

Semi-finals – Juniors Cohuna Blue vs Gunbower Red
A very different result to last week. Gunbower presented with a ‘nothing to lose’ attitude and really served it up to the ladder leaders. Cohuna Blue only banked one set in the singles, dropping six games and the doubles was a similar result dropping a further 10 games. Well done to Gunbower. We wish them all the best for the grand final.
