Cohuna Tennis Club – Notes 5 December 2020

After the immense heat of last week, and having the games called off by the league, we found ourselves in a very different position heading to tennis with the windscreen wipers on!

Seniors and Junior Blue teams made their way to Gunbower whilst Junior Gold played at home. The rain was heavier in Cohuna and the Juniors were washed out not long into their first sets, whilst at Gunbower the Seniors attempted their first sets and decided the conditions were not getting any better. The juniors were keen to play and finished out their sets in the drizzling rain.

Hotshots

On Saturday the Junior Hotshots program commenced with a lot of new faces and shiny racquets. This program runs for 8 weeks (3 weeks before Christmas and 5 weeks after Christmas). It’s not too late to join and give the kids a taste of tennis in a fun enjoyable format. Check out the club‘s Facebook page for more info.

Twilight

Another great evening at Twilight Tennis on Tuesday with all players enjoying the hit-outs. Twilight runs on a Tuesday night from 6pm.
Round 6 – Seniors (Cohuna Vs Gunbower)
Cohuna Seniors were away to Gunbower with all matches abandoned due to the rain.
Round 6 – Juniors Cohuna Gold vs Gunbower Blue
The Gold Juniors were to play Gunbower Blue at Cohuna, shortly after they commenced play the game was called off due to the rain.
Round 6 – Juniors Cohuna Blue vs Gunbower Red
The Blue Juniors enjoyed the conditions, the lighter bodies with better agility were able to adjust to the heavier balls and they really enjoyed a more casual hit out. The Blue team were dominant with all players winning all their sets and only allowing 18 games to Gunbower; however, the matches had plenty of rallies and killer deuces making for a competitive hit out.
