The 2020 Men’s Club Championships were concluded at Cohuna Golf Club on Sunday October 18.  This year’s A Grade Champion is Scott Beattie with a 3 round total of 235.  B Grade winner was Brenton Smyth with 262 and the C Grade winner, after an epic 22 holes was Hayden Bird with 287 from  Peter Doyle.  A Nett championship was also held with Scott Beattie also taking that for the A Grade, with Brenton Smyth in B Grade and Garry Yates for the C Grade.  Congratulations to all!

The usual weekly competition results start with last Thursday’s R&R event and it was Peter Richardson scoring 39 points from Jack Heanley with 37.  Brenton Smyth and Brian Roberts were split on countback with 34. I don’t have NTP details but I can say that Dom Baxter recorded his first official Eagle on the 13th when his approach shot took one bounce and rolled into the hole! 

Saturday’s Ladies Stableford was taken out by Marg WInship with 38 and NTP’s went to Jennie Goulding and Glenda Crichton. The Men’s event went to evergreen Ruff Farrant with 38 from John Power 37 and Eagle Eye Baxter with 36.  NTP’s went to Richard Callen, John Corry, Bruce Bird and Kevin Linehan.

Sunday’s Ladies event was Stableford and Ros Dunne was victorious with 34 points.  Helen Thies and Judy Simmonds claimed NTP’s on 8 and 17 respectively.  Josh Treacy played his first official round with his new handicap only to beat his brother by a single shot and take out the day’s event. What a great start to his golfing career!  Josh had a sore of 73 nett with Mitch scoring 74.  Scott Beattie was ahead of Mitch on countback to be official runner up on the day.  Darren Barry, Paul Robinson and Rob Wilson all finished with 75 nett.  NTP’s went to Richard Callen, Joel Woolhouse, Kevin Dehne and Dom Baxter.

Thanks to all who contributed over the championships and congratulations to our greenkeeper Paul Robinson who has the course in what most are saying is the best it’s been for a very long time!
