13 players turned up for a game of cards in a nice cosy room and diet-free food after the cards. What more do you want after a week of no cards due to a lot being sick. Iris Howard won the ladies’ with a moderate score of 2,520 as the 3-hander came into place.
Jim Bond had a mammoth score of 4,260, scoring 1,000 in four deals to win easily in the men’s. The lucky door went to Lorna Johnson and the mystery number was won by Gwen Campbell and Barry Stacey.
8 no trumps was the best call of the night (320). The jackpot has now reached $24.
Looks like the president job is to pick up the key at 10am, then turn up at 6pm with the secretary to set up, also Barry to help out, then during the evening make sure the party pies are getting heated etc. Otherwise, it may get too much and we are left without a president.
