Cohuna Cards - April 23, 2026

Numbers up at cards last night with 10 players attending. 

Welcome back to Iris Howard and Jim Bond. Iris has been giving the nurses a hard time just to get the OK to be able to play cards.

Anyway, Mavis Prout won the ladies’ with a score of 2660 (sorry about last week). Jim Bond was back after a long spell away from cards and returned to the winning stalls with a good score of 3190. Well, that big snake got his breakfast early with Doug Billman and Laurel Stacey, going 10 hearts on the second hand of the night. I thought, ‘Well the jackpot is gone,” but they did not realise that there was an assassin ready to take them down in Lorna Johnson; down the snake by a tune of 500 points. 

The lucky door went to Barry Stacey and the mystery number went to Lorna Johnson and Doug Billman who never recovered after losing 500 in the second deal.  

Someone else made a return to cards after coming off a ladder at the age of 77. I would like $5.00 for everyone who asked me, “What are you doing up a ladder?”
