Melbourne Cup Day was celebrated in style by a great crowd of bowlers and others last Tuesday. Bowls commenced early so all could enjoy lunch and a few sweeps before the running of the Cup. The sweep winners were well spread amongst the members. Bowls winners on the day were Mary Meredith, Peter Van der Zande and Marian Smith.
Wednesday’s Midweek Pennant results were not what we’d hoped for, with all teams going down. In Div. 1, Pyramid Hill 1 defeated Cohuna 1, 10/71 to 2/70. Cohuna 2 went down to Kerang 1, 9/80 to 3/69. In Div. 2, Cohuna Golf 2 defeated Cohuna 3, 8/48 to 2/38.
Saturday’s pennant results held very little joy either, with only Div. 2 getting a narrow win over Barham 3, 8/74 to 4/72. In Div. 1, Wakool 1, 10/77 defeated Cohuna 1, 2/61. In Div. 3, Cohuna 3 had a bye, and Cohuna 4 went down to Kerang Golf 3, 12/79 to 0/58.
Hopefully, some of last year’s form will start to reappear as the season progresses!
