The warm weather did not deter a good roll up of bowlers for last Tuesday’s Social Bowls. On 51 points were the winning team of Maurie Marnie, Steve Clarke and Ursula, a visitor to our club. Tuesday, December 12 is the annual breakup afternoon tea for Social Bowls, with yummy food, entertainment and of course, a visit from Santa. Many past and present members will enjoy a fun afternoon.
Another couple of happy social nights were held at the club rooms last weekend. Visitors from Queensland enjoyed the food and great company with many providing their own entertainment with the help of a few willing locals of course. On Sunday morning there was a tour of the district showing off what a great area we live in. Thanks to all members who go the extra yard to welcome visitors and to promote our town and surrounds.
Monday night was Hams Night at Cohuna with a good number of bowlers keen to take home the Christmas ham. Winners were Gavan Hird, Frank Tonn, Wayne Brooks and Geoff McIvor. Runners up were Pat Quinn, Garry Easton, Ian Coates and Jason.
Midweek Pennant results as follows:
In Div. 1, Cohuna Golf 1 defeated Cohuna 2 - 10/78 to 2/57. This game at Cohuna Golf saw Greg Beck’s team win by 7 shots. However, Noel Hosking’s and Marj Mooney’s teams were both well beaten by teams skippered by Peter Bibby and Yvonne Eckhardt. Playing at home, Cohuna 1 defeated Kerang 1 - 12/83 to 0/44.
