Cemented Belief

This week has cemented my belief that the current approach to regional Victorian lockdowns is ridiculous, if I’m being totally honest. Cool your jets. You haven’t even heard my story yet... Do you love your community? I do. Do you want the best...

Cemented Belief

This week has cemented my belief that the current approach to regional Victorian lockdowns is ridiculous, if I’m being totally honest.
Cool your jets. You haven’t even heard my story yet...
Do you love your community? I do.
Do you want the best overall health for our communities? I do.
Do you think we should act in the best way possible,  for the good of every one of our fellow Australians and our visitors blessing our shores? I do.
Does this “Pass the pub test?”

Scenario one:

A NSW resident can enter the Victorian border zone by permit,

  • - but not go further than the limit of the Victorian zone.

2) Victorian residents can travel up from, for instance Geelong,

  • - stay inside the Victorian border zone;
  • - cohabitate with NSW residents while in Victorian bubble;

Vic Government approved.
NSW Government approved.

Scenario two:

Twelve blokes. Country blokes, who don’t need any help staying far apart when they’re stretching the unmentionables,

  • - In community hall
  • - in Murrabit
  • - population 201 (as a district)
  • - Local Government Area (big area, sparsely populated), Current COVID-19 positive cases: zero.
  • - LGA COVID-19 positives for the last month: zero.

Victorian Government Denied.

Scenario three:

Victorian border zone resident, works in NSW. Children school in NSW,

Both LGA’s have zero positive cases.

Required to wear face masks for half the walk to work and school.

Have to show permits for a 1km trip from their house up to 6 times a day.

Cannot take their kids to medical treatment outside the Victorian border without voiding NSW permit conditions.

Then there are the families who are watching love ones wither away without the human bond of loved ones, even though both their LGAs have zero cases.

Then there’s those who cannot be with loved ones in medical emergency because of lines on a map.

And that’s without touching:

  • - Tourism
  • - Small business
  • - Melbourne
  • - evolving science best management
  • - our economy
  • - other health impacts of less doctor visitations, mental health, physical health, wearing masks in 30+ degree heat.

Yep, it’s my opinion after my last week.
