The weather has been very warm to hot recently and the bees have become even busier, particularly on the flowering Pandorea Bower Vine growing in our backyard. I have observed numerous times the bees flying to the flowers of this large vine and then crawling down into the pinkish coloured throat to collect nectar from the heart of the flower. After visiting a number of these flowers the foraging bees return to the hive with a heavy load of nectar - bees can carry half their weight in nectar. Astonishing!
