Transport New South Wales has begun maintenance works on the Barham-Koondrook Bridge which should be completed in early April. The $1.5 million project involves repairing watertight metal retaining structures around the bridge piers to address corrosion. Work is carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays (weather permitting).
Reduced speed limits, including 20km/h speed restrictions across the bridge, with an occasional delay of up to 20 minutes can be expected. There will be a maritime speed limit of four knots on the Murray River. The lift span and main travel channel will remain operational.
The works are to ensure that the bridge remains efficient and safe for current and future vehicle loads.
