Fifty members of local Hospital Auxiliary Groups attended a recent Murray region zone day in Barham.

Regional Representative for the Murray Region, Marion Dickins, said “It’s been a fantastic day in Barham, we have a wonderful network of volunteers who help out our local hospitals by way of fundraising.”

For the last year Hospital Auxiliary groups in the Murray region raised $311,569 and to date have donated $158,102 of that to Hospitals. Money is raised through various efforts such as street stalls, fetes, rose shows, ploughman’s lunches and op shops. Both local groups in Barham and Moulamein operate Opp. Shops to raise funds.

Statewide, the Hospital Auxiliary of NSW Inc. raised $10.5 million and gifted to date $5.5 million.

Gifted funds are used to purchase items from a hospital wish list. The wish list is taken to a Auxiliary meeting where members choose what to fund. Examples of funded items are beds, blood pressure machines, bladder scanners and aged care equipment.
