The First ever Committee Meeting of the newly formed BARHAM BOWLING CLUB was held on Monday, June 1. A Sub Committee was formed to oversee the design of the new uniforms. Those people are Gary Cooke, Reg Scott, Jackie Smythe, and Pam Waldron. Our Secretary Jean informed us that if necessary Northern Districts has given us permission to wear our current uniforms for the season.
Match Committee was also formed , Michael Laursen, Charlie Bagg, and Glen Faul. Ladies Match Committee, So far, Jean Fairchild, Jenny Laursen , and yet to be decided.
President Graeme gave the opening address, and just asked that we may be a happy Club. And I’m sure that we can manage that. We have had a hiccup with the building of the new complex, purely because of the Carona virus, but I’m positive that it will all work out in the end. “Bloody hell”, that first meeting cost every committee member $10. It was a donation to send our President to the Hearing Specialist. SOCIAL BOWLS. This is in the hands of that great organiser, Mr. Ronald Fraser, who is renowned for his ability to run social bowls, with a bit of fun added. Tuesday and Saturday will start at 1pm. Names to be on the Noticeboard, outside of the Clubhouse by at least 12 noon, or by phone, “Just leave a message 5453 2161. At the moment we are limited to 20 people per green, so looks like it will be pairs. Doesn’t matter anyway, it will always be what you make it.
I may even get back to social bowls. I stopped because I got sick of winning.
ONE FOR THE ROAD. A man returns home early from a business trip to find his wife making love to a total stranger in their bedroom. “Google–eyed, the husband asks his wife, “What on earth are you doing.?” His wife turns to the other man and says, “See, I told you he was as dumb as they come..”
See you on the green.
