On a perfect racing day, the annual Wakool Sheep Races were held at the Wakool Recreation Reserve on Saturday evening. The ewe ‘jockeys’ stayed safe behind the seven-lane barrier draw while their sheep were motivated to run faster to the finish line by the ringing of hand-held bells.
The event provided live music, great food, bar facilities and plenty of entertainment for kids, including a petting zoo, face painting and jumping castles.

The fashions on the field were impressive, and Kathy Hall and Myrtle Pappin won the Best Dressed Ewe and Ewe Lamb awards, respectively. Nigel Rudge and Curtis won the Best Dressed Ram and Ram Lamb awards.
Glowrey Goer, owned by Mark Jukes and Kathy Hall, won the 2024 Wakool Cup Grand Final.
