A Winning Recipe

Local deli and butchery Bundarra Berkshires has been recognised by the 2020 delicious.Produce Awards (sponsored by Harvey Norman), taking home State winner for NSW in the Paddock category. 

Now in their fifteenth year, the awards showcase Australia’s best and original primary produce and producers in categories such as paddock, dairy, earth, sea, new product and producer of the year. 

While it’s not the first time Bundarra has received the award, directors Lauren and Lachlan Mathers were extremely proud of the recognition.

“It's great to be recognised for something we’re so passionate about,” they said.

Bundarra was nominated by exclusive butcher Victor Churchill, who supplies Qantas First Class passengers with Bundarra’s pork. 

From here, there will be national judging of the awards which would normally take place in a restaurant environment, but instead will be judged from the homes of some of the country’s best chefs. Lauren says that they are pleased and excited to be able to enter their product at the next level.

“We’ll be entering our Scotch Rack, which is essentially a forequarter roast cut that’s not typically submitted.”

Having opened their deli in Punt Road just a couple of months ago, Lauren says they are delighted to now be able to provide their full range of products to locals.

“Having the deli here in town now means that we can concentrate more on our local customers which is something we’ve been wanting to focus on. We’ve worked really hard to secure different markets including restaurants and retail. Obviously with the current climate we haven’t been able to service restaurants but our online orders for home cooks has seen a huge increase which is wonderful. We’re really looking forward to the future and appreciate the continued support we are receiving from our valued customers.”
