A Little Box of Local Produce

Our community as well as the rest of the world have certainly been given a comprehensive lesson in how to adapt to changing trends and conditions. The way we live including how we shop, spend, and eat has changed substantially during 2020, and made us realise how spoiled for choice we have been in terms of availability and selection as consumers. 

Just prior to the pandemic, a group of local producers had briefly discussed the idea of selling boxes containing their goods online. But the idea wouldn’t come into fruition until a month ago, and now the seasonal boxes are available for consumption.

Lauren Mathers of Bundarra Berkshires explains.

“The idea came up again recently and we were opening our deli which provided a good opportunity to start it up the boxes.”

Consumers from all over Australia have the option of sampling the product boxes containing goods from Bundarra Berkshires, Moulamein Mushrooms, The Great Australian Squeeze, 12 Good Eggs and Barham Avocados.

12 Good Eggs’ Kate Redfearn, has always felt strongly about spreading the word on the high standard of produce we have in the area.

“I think we’ve always had a lot to show from our region. There are no farmers markets for us to take our eggs to at the moment so its good to be able to still get our product out there. A lot of people are interested in the idea of paddock to plate.”

Barham Avocados’ Katrina Myers agrees.

“The Little Produce Box is such a great way of promoting all the amazing food that’s grown in our area. We love promoting our local area and showing off all it has to offer.”
