Hi all, the fishing has slowed locally, with reports being few and far between. I did get a report from the Gunbower area that some nice Cod up to 80cm were being caught on lures early in the mornings. The Yellas are on the bite around Kyalite, taking scrub worms and small lures with some nice Cod also being accounted for. Maude is still fishing very well with Cod up to and over the metre mark taking bait and lures of all sorts. My partner and I had a trip to Hay the last weekend and we were joined by well-known fishing couple Marcus Pay and Jessie Lolicato. The action was none stop with some really nice Yellas and good size Cod taking lures in all depths of water. Tracie accounted for a 68cm and a 71cm Cod on the cast which gave her a bit of curry before they were successfully netted, but the honours went to Jessie who dragged a really fat 92cm Cod out of a meter of water. I enjoy fishing the shallows as the action is fast and furious as the fish realises they have nowhere to go, sending them into a fighting frenzy often breaking the surface and thrashing around on top. Never disregard timber in shallow waters, as they often hold fish that are on the hunt and aggressive. That’s all from me this week, cheers Baz
